WHAT IS THE TRANSITION TO TURKISH CITIZENSHIP?

It is the acquisition of Turkish citizenship by a foreigner/person who is not a citizen of the Republic of Turkey.

1. Foreigners who have been residing in the Republic of Turkey for five years without interruption,
2. Foreigners who are married to a citizen of the Republic of Turkey and have been married to the same person for at least three years,
3. Not to pose any danger to national security and public order within the borders of the Republic of Turkey,
4. Foreigners who have a residence permit and Turquoise Card holders pursuant to the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458, and their foreign spouses, minor or dependent children of themselves and their spouses,
5. Foreigners recognized as immigrants,
6. They will be able to regain Turkish citizenship, regardless of the period of residence in Turkey, provided that they do not pose a threat to national security;

a. Persons who lost their right to citizenship by obtaining permission from citizenship and those who were stripped of their citizenship
Children who lose their citizenship due to their parents can acquire Turkish citizenship by using their right to choose within three years from their coming of age,
b. A minor who is adopted by a Turkish citizen can acquire Turkish citizenship from the date of the decision, if he does not pose a danger to national security and public order.
c. Due to lineage or place of birth;

1. Regardless of whether he is in Turkey or abroad, a child born to a Turkish citizen mother and father in a marriage union is considered a Turkish citizen.
2. A child born out of wedlock to a Turkish citizen mother and a foreign father is considered a Turkish citizen.
3. According to the provisions of the Law on International Private and Procedural Law, a Turkish citizen acquires Turkish citizenship from his birth if he is related to his father by lineage.
4. A child born in Turkey who cannot acquire citizenship of any country by birth due to foreign parents is considered a Turkish citizen from birth. A child who has been in Turkey is deemed to have been born in Turkey, unless otherwise proven.

WHAT ARE THE PROCEDURE STAGES IN CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION?

1. Opening the file
2. Examining the requested documents and completing the deficiencies, if any (such as health report, residence permit, criminal record, passport photocopy, birth certificate, photograph, livelihood certificate, documents brought from the foreigner's country, fee receipt, etc.)
3. Taking the report and fingerprints related to the investigation made by the Police Department / Gendarmerie Command,
4. Personal participation in the citizenship examination commission meeting (both spouses participate in applications due to spouse)
5. Completion of the file and sending it to the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship with the opinion of the commission,
6. Coming of the decision and notifying the foreigner.

Requirements for obtaining Turkish Citizenship:

. The applicant must be of legal age according to the laws of the country of citizenship, if he is stateless, he must be 18 years old according to the Turkish Civil Code.
. Person's ability to distinguish
. Legally living in Turkey for at least 5 years without interruption before applying
. Declaring that he has decided to settle in Turkey through his activities (purchasing real estate, opening a business, employing Turkish citizens, etc.)
. Not having a dangerous disease that threatens public health
. Having good morals and following the rules of etiquette

. Not to be a threat to national security and public order
. Having enough income to stay in Turkey

Conditions for Exceptional Acquisition of Turkish Citizenship:

. Conditions and necessary documents for Exceptional Acquisition of Turkish Citizenship;
. Purchasing a real estate worth at least 250,000 USD with an annotation of not selling for 3 years
. Depositing at least 500,000 USD in the bank, provided that they do not withdraw for 3 years
. Legally employing at least 50 Turkish citizens
. Purchasing government debt instruments worth at least 500,000 USD for 3 years
. Purchasing at least USD 500,000 worth of real estate investment fund and venture capital investment fund shares for 3 years.
